Ziro valley view

— Ritu Raj Konwar

An Air Force helicopter flies over the lush green paddy fields of the Apatani plateau in Ziro valley located at about 1,500 meters above sea level in Arunachal Pradesh on Monday. Ziro is a picturesque hill station in the state, inhabited by about 50,000 Apatani people. The land of Apataniâs is a valley, uneven and dotted with a number of hillocks beneath the lush paddy field. Pisciculture is an unique practice in this valley where two crops — rice and fish — are raised together.
