Jeera futures hit upper circuit

Mumbai, July 16 Jeera futures in NCDEX on Wednesday hit the upper circuit of 3.72 per cent at Rs 13,785 a quintal on improved export demand and less arrivals. Turmeric gained 1.2 per cent at Rs 4,806 a quintal on reports of 15 per cent decline in acreage in Andhra Pradesh, which is the major producing centre.

Castorseed was up marginally by 0.87 per cent at Rs 652 per 20 kg due to scant rainfall in major growing areas.

Maize tumbles

Maize futures tumbled to hit the 3.47 per cent lower circuit at Rs 960 a quintal due to unconfirmed reports that the Government may impose stock limits to bring down retail prices. Tracking weak global markets, soyabean and RM seed futures ended down 1.37 per cent and 0.91 per cent at Rs Rs 2,695 a quintal and Rs 677 per 20 kg, respectively. Cocud fell marginally by 1.07 per cent at Rs 538 per 20 kg on profit taking on recent rally even as spot markets remained firm.
