Sundar Coonoor, July 16 A huge volume of 14.16 lakh kg will be offered at Sale No: 29 of the auctions of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) to be held on Thursday and Friday, an analysis of the catalogues of the brokers reveals. This is the highest offer for a single sale in nearly 30 months, barring last week when the volume totalled 15.40 lakh kg. It is as much as 1.93 lakh kg more than the offer this time last year. The offer continues to be huge because of a 33 per cent increase in Nilgiri production in the first half, despite a 5.2 per cent decline in June. FRESH ARRIVALSFresh arrivals continue to be high. Of the 14.16 lakh kg, fresh arrivals total 13.44 lakh kg. The balance comprises teas remaining unsold in previous auctions.
