Policy Nod for Lucknow airport renaming New Delhi, July 17 The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved a proposal to rename Amausi airport in Lucknow to Chaudhary Charan Singh airport. Briefing newspersons after the Cabinet meeting, the Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, said a request from the State Government for renaming the airport had been pending with the Centre for some time. "There are several airports including Biju Patnaik airport in Bhubaneshwar, Maharana Pratap in Udaipur and Lal Bahadur Shastri in Varanasi which have been named after eminent people. Chaudhury Charan Singh was a leader of the farmers, an eminent leader and also the seventh Prime Minister of the country," he added. The airport belongs to the Airports Authority of India and the terminal building can handle 500 passengers. -Our Bureau
