Tata Tele Maharashtra loss at Rs 35 cr

Mumbai, July 17 Tata Teleservices Maharshtra Ltd, the mobile telephony arm of the Tata group, has posted a higher standalone net loss for the quarter ended June 30 at Rs 34.7 crore, compared to Rs 28.4 crore reported a year ago.

On the other hand, the total income recorded for the quarter by the company saw a rise of 23.5 per cent to Rs 504.8 crore (Rs 408.5 crore).

Forex loss

A statement issued by the company to the bourses here on Wednesday said that it recorded a foreign exchange loss of Rs 20.69 crore in the June quarter as compared to forex gain of Rs 15.2 crore in the corresponding year ago quarter. However, the company did not elaborate.

According to the Tata Group Web Site, the company has over 1.29 million customers in Maharashtra and Goa and offers telephony and ISP services in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, and 137 towns across Maharashtra.

On a sequential basis too, the net loss of the firm widened from Rs 20.5 crore in the April quarter.
