Small industries body, Canara Bank to train women

Tiruchi, July 18 Under its Science and Technology Entrepreneurship Development project, the Tiruchi District Tiny and Small Scale Industries’ Association (TIDITSSIA) has joined hands with Canara Bank to train prospective women entrepreneurs in cutting and stitching leather gloves.

In a press release issued on Friday, the Project Director, Mr Ramaswamy Desai, said Canara Bank will provide financial assistance for those completing a 21-day training programme, while the industry association will take care of raw material tie-ups and marketing.

Candidates from the economically backward strata will be selected during the last week of this month and the training will commence by the first week of August. TIDITSSIA expects to launch the manufacturing units in a month from then.

Leather products is one among the six core projects the association has identified for implementation under the project.
