Meet on welding, painting tech

Karur, July 18

The Confederation of Indian Industry organised a conference on welding and painting technology here on Friday that threw light on the emerging trends in the two fields. Speakers underlined the fact that the two fields were of great importance to the industrialised Karur town that has a huge population of bus body building activity. The Convener, CII Automotive Panel, Mr P. Thangaraju, outlined the theme of the meet. The Senior Deputy General Manager, Welding Research Insti tute (Tiruchi), Mr A. Raja, delivered the special address detailing the salient features of modern day welding and the recent advances made in the field. Technical sessions, which were organised as part of the meet, touched on aspects such as welding productivity, cost effective welding, and cost reduction. —
