Telecommunications Vodafone’s outgoing CEO in favour of spectrum auction Our Bureau New Delhi, July 19 Vodafone Plc’s India born outgoing Chief Executive Officer, Mr Arun Sarin, on Friday said that he was in favour of auctioning spectrum. He said that the Government should formulate policies for long-term sustainability. “We always prefer long-term regulatory policies as we have to plan our businesses for long-term. Auctions are always a good way because spectrum is a scare resource,” Mr Sarin said. His comments assume significance given that the Government is debating on how to price spectrum for 2G mobile services. While DoT is proposing to impose a one time entry fee for all existing operators beyond 6.2 Mhz, there is a view that all new allocations should be done through auction.
