Power cut in TN

The Tamil Nadu Government has announced compulsory power cut for one hour in Chennai and two hours in the rest of the State from July 21 (Business Line, July 19). But does the stipulated time include the unscheduled power cuts that have been haunting the State for quite some time now? Anyhow, this is not happy news, especially at a time when the economy as a whole is experiencing unprecedented inflation due to supply-side constraints.

Needless to say, ‘power’ rules the roost in all walks of life. Political parties in the State should stop, at least temporarily, their extravagant expenditure on public functions and meetings to help tide over the present power crisis.
