New Delhi, July 21 Fiat Group’s agriculture machinery division, New Holland Tractors India said that it was seeking to double its turnover from the domestic operations over the next three years.

It would be on the back of increased domestic capacity, sourcing of more parts for the overseas markets and also by venturing in to new farm equipment products like sugarcane harvesters, balers, cotton pickers.

“We would like to reach an annual capacity to 40,000 units per year by 2011 from the current capacity of 30,000 units,” said Mr Franco Fusignani, Chief Executive Officer, Case New Holland (CNH), the $16-billion parent company of the wholly owned Indian subsidiary.

The company is targeting a turnover of Rs 2,400 crore by 2011. Mr Fusignani said that the company would focus on key assemblies, drivelines, axles and engines to serve in the domestic as well as export market.

New Holland Tractors which has a six per cent market share domestically, would widen its array of products by expanding it to 30 models, up from the current 12.

When asked about its low share of business in the domestic market, Mr Mario Gasparri, Managing Director, New Holland India and Business Leader, CNH, Asia Pacific, explained that the company did not have a dominant presence in the below 40 horsepower (HP) tractor’s segment which constituted 65 per cent of the market. At present, it produces tractors mainly in the range of 35-80 HP.

“When we will have 30 models by 2011, at least 10 of them would be below 40 HP. However, it is not much of a priority area for us,” said Mr Gasparri.
