Eastern Rlys’ freight traffic grows 9.35%

Kolkata, July 22 In first quarter of the current fiscal, Eastern Railway handled 11.994 million tonnes (mt) of originating freight traffic, thus posting 9.35 per cent growth over 10.968 mt handled the same period of last fiscal, according to a press release.

The freight earnings during the period, however, posted 15.01 per cent growth at Rs 635.04 crore (Rs 552.14 crore).

Total earnings during the period amounted to Rs 980.62 crore (Rs 889.9 crore), thus registering 10.19 per cent growth, the release added.
