Airlines Government - Policy Govt nod for air shows at Begumpet airport Our Bureau Hyderabad, July 22 The Union Government has given in-principle nod to utilise the Begumpet Airport here for general aviation and hosting national and international air shows. The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, who is camping in Delhi in connection with the trust vote in Parliament, said that the Government responded positively when he put forward the proposal with the Ministry of Civil Aviation recently. In a press release here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said a number of international organisations had evinced interest in the proposal to host air shows. “They include Farnborough International Ltd (FIL), a subsidiary of UK’s aerospace trade association, Aviation Development Australia Limited and Aerospace Australia Limited,” he said. He said an aerospace and precision engineering SEZ would come up near the new airport. “Aerospace industries in Hyderabad have joined hands to form Samuha Engineering Industries to promote this. This is the first of its kind in India,” he said. The Tatas would set up a unit to manufacture aerospace and precision engineering systems in the SEZ, it said. More Stories on : Airlines | Policy
