Kerala to invest Rs 12,000 cr in minor ports

The Kerala Government is expecting investment worth Rs 12,000 crore for development of minor ports in the State in three years, the Minister for Parliamentary Affairs and Ports, Mr M.Vijayakumar has said.

Replying questions in the State Assembly, the Minister said that the investment in joint sector would pave for major development of ports.

The feasibility study as well as the road and rail alignment leading to the port had been completed.

A Maritime Development Board would be set up for the port development. In addition to Vizhinjam, the Minister said that ports in Kollam, Alappuzha, Ponnani, Beypore and Azheekal would be developed with private participation.
