Hyderabad, July 23

Unique Inflatables Ltd has supplied 50 units of ‘Huanhuan’, the Beijing Olympic Mascot, to China. The order value was Rs 65 lakh and units were dispatched to China recently, Mr R Ramdev, Managing Director of Unique Inflatables, told newspersons here. “There was tough competition for the contract from over 30 Chinese companies. But we could secure it at 60 per cent higher price than that of the competitors due to our quality,” he said. The productio n of the units (three metre tall) took 18 days for Unique which had earlier supplied some inflatables to Sydney Olympics. The Hyderabad-based company,had a turnover of Rs 65 crore in the last financial year. “We are planning to double this by 2010 in view of growing market aboard. Our focus is on exports which offer $150 million opportunity,” he said. The exports contributed Rs 54 crore revenue during the last fiscal, he added.
