Rural Development Money & Banking - Regional Rural Banks States - Karnataka Bankers’ team to study microfinance in Lanka Our Bureau Mangalore, July 23 The Regional Training College of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard), Mangalore, is organising a 10-day training-cum-exposure visit to Sri Lanka on microfinance for officials of banks operating in the southern States and Maharashtra. A press release by Mr S.G. Siddesh, Principal of the College, said a team of 20 senior officers from commercial banks, regional rural banks, cooperative banks and Nabard will study the microfinance scenario and processes adopted in the establishment of micro enterprises in Sri Lanka for sustainable livelihood. The team will try to understand the interventions made by banks, NGOs and microfinance institutions in capacity building and skill upgradation of the poor in taking up enterprise activities. The team will also study the methodology adopted by banks and microfinance institutions in Sri Lanka in identifying and providing the escort services for successful establishment of micro enterprises.
