Defence procurement policy in ten days: Antony

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, July 24 The new defence procurement policy, 2008, will be unveiled in the next ten days, according to Mr A.K. Antony, the Union Minister of Defence.

The policy will provide a level-playing field to all countries and international companies.

“The aim is to ensure that our armed forces will be able to speedily procure world-class equipment from indigenous or foreign sources,” he told newspersons on Wednesday.

However, we will not compromise on quality while ensuring transparency and speedy procurement.

The policy would contain several improvements over the existing 2006 version, he said on the sidelines of the silver jubilee event of Mishra Dhatu Nigam (Midhani).
