Kolkata, July 25 Emami Ltd’s Rs 40-crore new plant at Abhoyput in Guwahati would begin commercial production in August.

Mr Harsha Agarwal, Executive Director of Emami, told Business Line that the company was still awaiting SEBI clearance for open offer for Zandu Pharmaceutial Works, in which it now holds 27.5 per cent stake.

Meanwhile, Emami reported a net sales growth of 17 per cent at Rs 123 crore in the quarter ended on June 30 against the corresponding period in the previous fiscal, while PAT grew 13 per cent to Rs 11 crore.

Exports, mainly from West Asia and Africa, improved 42 per cent to Rs 15 crore.
