Kochi, July 27

Unitek-Borri, a joint venture between Kerala-based Unitek Power Solutions and Borri Industrial Power Solutions, Italy, is setting up a manufacturing unit in the State at an investment of Rs 30 crore.

The facility will be set up in Pazhanganad near Kochi for manufacturing entire range of power electronic equipment. Borri is looking India as a hub to supply products as the cost of production is soaring in the European market, Mr John Zachariah, Managing Director, Unitek Power Solutions said.

He said that Unitek and Borri came to an understanding that all products manufactured in Italy for the Indian market will be known as Unitek-Borri.

Both the companies have signed an agreement in June 2007 to market Borri products in the Indian market. Within a short span, the products established themselves in the Indian peninsula, he said.

During the first quarter in the current fiscal after the tie-up, the company is able to achieve a business of Rs 11 crore and is targeting Rs 75 crore in the current fiscal. Unitek-Borri has built a strong reputation since its inception.

Clients included government departments, bank, shipping, textile, plastic, school and hospital sectors.
