Bomb blasts

It is unfortunate that the IT hub of India, Bangalore, was also not spared from the serial blasts, when eight blasts rocked the city within short intervals, which had cost the innocent lives of two people and injured more than a dozen.

Perhaps, after a “dry run” at Bangalore, the terrorists returned with a vengeance at Ahmedabad, killing 49 people and injuring more than 300 hapless citizens.

After the terrorists attack in the National Science Convention held at Bangalore in 2005 which had cost the life of Delhi scientist, it appears that the vested elements had again targeted the metros.

While the bomb squad deserves kudos for diffusing three unexploded bombs in Bangalore and Ahmedabad, the State governments should take a note of this warning signal and ensure fool-proof security measures immediately in the cities.

The Centre should also deploy para military forces in vulnerable areas to ensure that foreign investors do not retrace their investment programmes.
