Kerala’s houseboats set to go places

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, July 29

The famed houseboats of Kerala could soon set sail in rivers and backwaters of other States. The operators of houseboats have started getting enquiries from Andhra Pradesh and other States.

“Entrepreneurs who run houseboats in Kerala have told us that they are being invited to other States. We will help them in tackling legal and other issues that would help them start services outside,” Mr M. Sivasankar, Director of Kerala Tourism, said.

Earlier, inaugurating a roadshow of Kerala Tourism here on Tuesday, Ms Lakshmi Pardhasaradhi, Principal Secretary (Tourism), Government of Andhra Pradesh, asked Kerala to tap the potential for houseboat business in Andhra Pradesh under the Jala Yagnam scheme.
