Opinion - Letters
Needed, strong leadership

The vast majority of the minorities in India are law-abiding citizens who do not indulge in violent incidents that take place in various parts of the country. Some of them are, unfortunately, misguided and swayed by leaders who believe in violence and destruction of life and property. Sometimes, well-educated youth are drawn into groups, causing untold misery and destruction. Law enforcement agencies normally react to an incident after it occurs. They are not able to foresee and take counter measures in time.

The authorities do not have the man power, skills and other resources to counter terrorism.

Those who want to do mischief and and harm innocent people are always found to be one step ahead of law enforcement agencies. So, the problem of terrorism has to be solved from a different angle.

It is time all leaders from political, religious, social and other groups of the minority community come out openly and say “enough of violence”.
