MetroPlus theatre fest from Aug 1

The three-year-old The Hindu MetroPlus Theatre Festival will run from August 1-10.

It will be accompanied by workshops to encourage youngsters to interact with theatre professionals and will also feature a symposium on theatre.

The seven plays being staged include one from Korea, one from New York, two from Mumbai, one from Chandigarh, one from Bangalore and one Indo-German collaboration. The entire festival will be staged at Sir Mutha Venkatasubba Rao Concert Hall (Lady Andal school premises, Harrington Road).

Entry tickets are priced Rs 500, Rs 300 and Rs 150. Season passes are priced Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,500. Tickets are available at Landmark and at the venue. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.thehindu.com/theatrefest

For the second successive year Bose will be the main sponsor of the event. The associate sponsors are LG LCD TV, Nippon Paint and Mahindra Holidays & Resorts. The other sponsors actively associated with the event are Bru Ice Cappuccino (beverage sponsor); Indian Council for Cultural Relations (cultural sponsor); The Park (hospitality sponsor); RadioOne (radio partner); and Evam (event manager).
