CII launches skill development scheme in schools

Madurai, July 29 The Tamil Nadu Minister for School Education, Mr Thangam Thennarasu, launched ‘Thalir Thiran Thittam’ at the Government Higher Secondary School in Virudhunagar district, near here, on Tuesday.

The scheme is an initiative from the Affirmative Action Group of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Madurai Zone in association with Aparajitha Foundation, Madurai.

It is aimed at imparting life skills to school children to enable them to effectively cope with the demand and challenges of everyday life, balancing one’s knowledge, attitude and skills.

The selection of school children for the programme, according to Mr R. Dinesh, Chairman, CII, Madurai Zone, is to facilitate the development of personality from a very early stage. The inputs relate to self management, communication, team dynamics, emotional intelligence, health and hygiene, values in daily life, laws of the land etiquette and other skills for a wholesome life.

The programme is initially imparted to students at the VII standard and the batch is handheld for six years till it completes the XII standard and run as a parallel curriculum along with the routine curriculum.
