Exports & Imports New all-industry drawback rates will be put out by August 15 Our Bureau New Delhi, July 29 The Government will announce all-industry drawback rates for exporters by August 15 this year, a top official of the Finance Ministry said here on Tuesday. “We should be able to announce the drawback rates by August 15. There is a committee looking into this. We will also take a long-term view on the exchange rate before announcing the drawback rates,” Mr J.K. Batra, Member (Customs), Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC), said at an interactive session organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) here. Meanwhile, Mr Batra refuted FIEO (Northern Region) Chairman, Dr R.K. Dhawan’s observation that there was “hardly any coordination” between the revenue and Directorate General of Foreign Trade departments. “There is no dearth of cooperation between the two departments. Over the years, cooperation has been increasing. As it happens in policy making, there are different views. But there is a mechanism to sort out the issues. Let the feeling not go that there is no cooperation,” Mr Batra said. More Stories on : Exports & Imports
