Despite being blessed with copious rains, major rivers and innumerable water bodies, fish population in Kerala is drastically declining, with some species on the verge of extinction, primarily because of man-made environmental changes leading to loss of habitats for fish breeding and feeding, says the Annual Report of the Government of India 2007-08.
