Over a million e-returns filed so far

New Delhi, July 30 Over a million e-returns have been filed with the income-tax department up to July 29 this year.

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) expects the number of e-returns to cross over 1.3 million by July 31. Last year, in the same period, the department had received 1.6 lakh e-returns.

Voluntary: 94%

Out of the e-returns received so far this fiscal, over 1 lakh have been filed in Delhi. A CBDT release said that this year, 94 per cent of e-returns had been filed voluntarily by individuals.

Last year, over 21.93 lakh e-returns were received from across India, out of which over 14.6 lakh were filed voluntarily.

Last year, Delhi received over 2.85 lakh e-returns, out of which over 1.74 lakh were filed voluntarily by individuals.

The number of e-returns is over 10 per cent of all returns received in Delhi Region.
