CII Tiruchi zone to host Energex from Sept 26

Chennai, July 31 The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Tiruchi Zone is planning to organise the second edition of Energex 2008 from September 26. The three-day expo is aimed at showcasing the potential of the zone as a major engineering hub and energy equipment and fabrication capital of the country.

CII held the first edition of the expo in 2005, which according to Mr Senthil Annamalai, Chairman, CII Tiruchi Zone, was successful with more than 50 exhibitors and over 3,000 business participants attending the event. “It generated a business worth Rs 200 crore,” he said.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the zone with its fast growing cluster of energy equipment manufacturing units is set to consolidate its position as the energy equipment and fabrication capital of India.

With four large and leading boiler manufacturers, 30 pressure parts and boiler parts manufacturers, over 300 fabrication units and machine shops and more, it does Rs 7,000 crore business every year. It provides employment opportunities for over 1.5 lakh people, both directly and indirectly.

“With better focus in the years to come, we hope to grow at 15 to 20 per cent, and can provide employment for 20,000 more people every year,” said Mr Annamalai.
