Tiruchi rail unit loads more foodgrains, cement

Tiruchi, Aug. 3 The Tiruchi Railway Division has loaded over 6.95 lakh tonnes of cement during the first quarter (April–July) of the current financial year.

This is 103 per cent more than the loading done in the corresponding period of last year when the division loaded 3.43 lakh tonnes.

The division created a record in loading of both cement and foodgrains. The cement loading during July alone was over 1.85 lakh tonnes which was 126 per cent more than the corresponding period of the previous year when it touched 82,298 tonnes.

As for foodgrains, they were 43, 203 tonnes which was 165 per cent higher than the corresponding period of the previous year when it was 16, 282 tonnes., a Southern Railway press release said here on Sunday.
