Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Aug. 4 The Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Mr Chandrasekhar Sahu, has regretted that despite Rs 70,000 crore being pumped in for drinking water programmes, people in many villages across the country still come up with demands.

After launching a one-year post graduate diploma in Rural Development Management at the National Institute of Rural Development here, he explained on how the programmes of the department across a broad spectrum of activity still failed to achieve the desired impact.

Mr Sahu outlined on how the country was working towards the goal of being classified as a developed nation by the year 2020 and reiterated that it was possible only if professionalism was infused to effect the transformation.
