‘Social auditing successful in AP’

Our Bureau

Hyderabad, Aug. 4 The various social audit programmes in the State have been successful, but we have to ensure that all small lapses are corrected, Mr G Chinna Reedy, Andhra Pradesh Minister for Rural Development, has said.

Addressing a press conference after a State-level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee meeting here on Monday, he said, “If the lapses are taken with respect to the misappropriation of the funds then there are only around 2.5 to 3 per cent lapses found of the total amount of Rs 4,000 crore spent.”

The Minister added that so far around Rs 2 crore has been recovered and strict action is being taken against those who are guilty. The State Cabinet has approved the rules and guidelines for social audit on NREGS, which is now under the purview of the RTI Act.
