The Retail Supply Chain Management is a two-day course planned during mid-October in Mumbai, and is open for junior and middle-level managers in retail supply chain and retail chain of stores. The fee is Rs 5,000.

Mr R. Dinesh, Core Group Member of the CII Institute of Logistics, told newspersons that the programmes were aimed at improving the skill sets of SCM officers.

The programme was conceptualised and designed to enable middle and senior-level managers in SCM to have an overview of banking, LC credit, forex management, foreign exchange risks, customs clearance, overseas warehousing and the intricacies of the retail business.

According to Mr B.V. Iyer, National President, IIMM, it is estimated that India has 12 million retail outlets but only 2 per cent of the market is organised.

“The retail supply chain is an intriguing area, which is constantly baffling the FMCG companies.”
