New Delhi, Aug 5 In an effort to revitalise Air India, the management has not only announced some immediate changes in a few key positions, but has also named some personnel to take over as Executive Directors in future after the current incumbents retire.

Some of the people appointed through an office order issued late on Tuesday night are to take charge as Executive Directors of various divisions in the airlines seven months from now.

Office order

The office order appoints Mr Vijay Paul as Executive Director, (Eastern region) after Mr S. Mahadevan retires on February 28 next year.

Similarly, Mr Yatinder Kumar is to take charge as Executive Director, Fleet and Network Planning, after the current incumbent retires on September 30 this year.

Mr N. Mugundan has been nominated to be Executive Director (Engineering) after Mr P. Haldar retires on March 31 next year.

In the past, there have been instances of senior management positions lying vacant for some period of time before being filled.

In addition, the Executive Director (America), Mr Deepak Brara, is being transferred as Executive Director (Commercial) based in Mumbai.

Mr Brara, who had earlier held the position of Managing Director, Alliance Air and Executive Director (Sales and Marketing) was posted as Executive Director (America) about six months ago.

The decision to rejig the management team comes at a time when the airline is facing mounting losses and a drop in the number of passengers being carried both on the international and domestic routes being operated.
