Long-term revenue visibility for Wipro

BL Research Bureau

Wipro Infotech’s winning a multi-million, multi-year deal with Spencers Retail lends long-term revenue visibility and strengthens the group’s domestic presence.

This division of Wipro, focussed on India and other Asia-Pacific countries, contributes about 18.8 per cent of the group’s overall revenues.

This deal will envisage Wipro Infotech providing infrastructure management services to Spencers Retail, which will involve managing the client’s applications and data centre operations.

This deal follows a mega deal that the company had won with Aircel.

Together these deals coming from the high-growth sectors of retail and telecom means further expansion of domestic footprint for Wipro. This also signals that deal sizes are expanding domestically as well.

But domestic deal sizes do not enjoy the kind of margins that normal IT services deals from the US and Europe tend to get, indicating a more volume driven play for the group here.
