Software Web Extras - Human Resources Alghanim implements SAP at India plants Our Bureau Hyderabad, Aug. 6 The $2-billion diversified Kuwait-based Alghanim Group announced recently hat it has implemented SAP human resources modules in its India companies — Kirby and Rockwool. It plans to implement it across all its 30 global entities spread over 40 countries. “This is a significant move for the company and will help streamline the entire workflow relating to over 4,000 employees in the two plants in the country, apart from making human resources management a paperless interface,” Mr Ian Waterhouse, Vice-President of Alghanim Industries, said. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Mr Waterhouse said “this was implemented in about five months time. We decided to test-deploy in plants located at Hyderabad, Haridwar and near Zaheerbad, as India has one of the most complex payroll systems.” The group is quite upbeat on India and continues to scout for more investments, Mr Waterhouse said. The Chief Executive Officer of Kirby, Mr S.V. Rao, said that the company is expecting revenues of Rs 2,000 crore from Indian operations by next year and has managed to enter new areas, including automotive companies. After the deal from Renault-Nissan plant, the company recently bagged an order from Apollo Tyres.
Rockwool (India) Ltd, the insulation products manufacturer with a base at Zaheerabad about 80 km from Hyderabad, is in the process of setting up another plant at Silvassa, in the western region, according to Mr Kevin Pereira, Director (Commercial) at Rockwool. The Alghanim group had acquired the Rockwool unit about eight years ago and is now in the process of setting up another plant with an installed capacity of 25,000 tonnes a year, in technical collaboration with Saint Gobain. The insulation products that Rockwool manufactures are in demand in various industrial and even commercial applications and the new plant, poised to be ready by the first quarter 2009, is aimed at meeting the enhanced demand, Mr Pereira said.
