Outlook Studying Hummer’s potential GM India is conducting a strategic review of the Hummer brand for a possible introduction in the Indian market. Last week an overseas news agency had mentioned that GM is considering roping in Mahindra & Mahindra for marketing Hummer vehicles in India. Talking about the possibility Mr Ankush Arora said that there is no indication to that effect from GM’s headquarters in Detroit. He however mentioned that GM India is independently conducting a review of the brand’s potential for the Indian market. He felt that with the market for luxury vehicles booming, there could be demand for niche vehicles like the Hummer. Originally developed for the American Army, Hummer’s smaller version — the H3 has already been re-engineered and is available in some right-hand drive markets like the UK, South Africa and Australia.
