Hyderabad, Aug. 7 To raise funds for its Save A Child Heart Foundation (SACH), Apollo Hospitals is organising a grand event on August 17 here. Bollywood actresses Bipasha Basu and Lara Datta are expected to perform.

The event is likely to be attended by royal families, industrialists and artists. The list of invitees included the Jindals, Mr Anil Ambani, Mr Amar Singh and Mr Omar Abdullah.

“We are going to have a surprise celebrity guest from the US,” Ms Upasna Kamineni, Vice-Chairperson of Apollo Charities and the granddaughter of Dr Prathap Reddy, said.

SACH was started at Apollo’s Hyderabad facility to perform heart children free of cost. So far, it performed 1,800 surgeries with the help of donations and contribution from the hospital.

The hospital group is now expanding the SACH services to other States where it has presence. “We have targeted to perform 2,500 surgeries for children suffering from cardiac problems free of cost,” Dr Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman of the group, said.

Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the group had decided to bring all its corporate social responsibility activities under one umbrella — Apollo Charities. “We are selling a table at Rs 5 lakh at the event. We are expecting to raise a few crores for the foundation,” Ms Upasna said. She would also be launching the health and lifestyle magazine B +ve.
