Two-wheeler cos increase prices

Our Bureau

New Delhi, Aug. 7 Two-wheeler companies have raised the prices across different models in the range of Rs 800-2,000. They have cited escalating raw material prices as reason for price increase.

Hero Honda on Thursday announced a price increase of up to Rs 850 on its models. Bajaj Auto increased prices on its 100 cc bike Platina and other models such as XCD and Pulsar, with effect from the last week of July.

Mr Amit Nandi, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Bajaj Auto, said, “We raised price on the non-metallic variant of Platina by Rs 500. A similar hike has been implemented even on 125 cc bike XCD . In case of Pulsar, 150 and 180 cc, the price increase has been increased Rs 1,500.”

TVS Motor Company too has raised prices of the models beginning this month.

“We have already increased prices up to Rs 1,800 on different models,” said Mr H.S. Goindi, the company’s Head of Marketing and Sales.

This would be the second round of price increase in the current fiscal after the first one was carried out sometime during April-May.
