Tata Ceramics launches retail biz

Pune, Aug 8 Tata Ceramics Ltd, (TCL) hitherto a manufacturer of fine bone china crockery for export, has launched its retail business in the domestic market.

The company has tied up with the Pune-based distributors G.V. Puntambekar and Sons for retailing its products in Goa and Maharashtra.

The company inaugurated the first exclusive branded store here on Friday.

Similar partnerships in other States are in the offing, and TCL will have a pan-India presence in the next 12-18 months, Mr Munish Gupta, Managing Director, said.

The company, which manufactures the fine bone china pottery and table ware for companies such as Wedgewood and Richard Ginori recorded a turnover of Rs 35 crore last year.

It expects to add Rs 12 crore to the top line in the next two years through the domestic initiative, he added.

Mr Gupta said the company’s USP is its products are completely free of heavy metals such as lead, mercury and cadmium.
