Our Bureau Hyderabad, Aug. 8 IT services provider Satyam Computer plans to continue focus on applied research, especially in telecom, technology infrastructure, media and entertainment. The company has filed for 19 patents. The research and development work is aimed at creating reusable intellectual property (IP) artefacts and solutions and speed up implementation. The patent filings include those in the areas of media and entertainment and networking technologies. The company in its latest annual report mentioned how it collaborated with Cisco and a Japanese IT and networking solutions company to deliver reconfigurable architecture for networks. The company said that it had worked on 10 algorithms to create its own reusable IP and created initial versions of four solutions based on these algorithms in the areas of text and video analysis, advertisement among others. In its efforts to broaden research work, it has collaborated with Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and some universities abroad. The company stated that the algorithms and systems developed as part of the applied research initiatives are used to build showcase solutions. These algorithms, frameworks and solutions developed by the company’s R&D teams are used to implement customer projects.
