Entrepreneurship States - Tamil Nadu ‘Aspire to be entrepreneurs, not job-seekers’ Our Bureau Coimbatore, Aug 8 Managing change is the need of the hour and to meet customers’ requirements, companies have to continuously modify their products, according to Mr G. Rajendran, Managing Director, CRI Pumps Pvt Ltd, Coimbatore. He also advised students not to look for jobs but become entrepreneurs once they complete their studies. Speaking at the inaugural function of the Business Line Club at CMS College of Science & Commerce, Coimbatore, he said, “for our survival and for continuous growth” the company comes out with new methods and concepts, processes and products. This was applicable not only to the industries but also to educational institutions and students. He said in the current competitive world, people need the power of information on current trends to succeed. Reading newspapers helps one understand the career options available, investment opportunities, social activities, health, etc. Mr Rajendran said Coimbatore was a flourishing city “mainly because of the entrepreneurship of its people” and advised the students not to aspire for jobs but become entrepreneurs. Even if this was not possible immediately after college, students should try to start their own industrial units after gaining some professional experience. Entrepreneurs should know market information, government policy changes, development in leading industries, etc. .Mr Rajendran felt that finishing schools played an important role in training students in communication skills, leadership qualities and personality development. Mr M. P. Gopalakrishnan, Chairman, CMS Educational & Charitable Trust and Mr D. Rajkumar, Regional General Manager, The Hindu, Coimbatore, also addressed the gathering.
