Mixed trend in rubber

Kottayam, Aug. 9 Physical rubber prices showed a mixed trend on Saturday. Sheet rubber RSS 4 improved to Rs 135.50 from Rs 135 a kg on covering purchases. According to sources, traders preferred to cover their short positions as rains strengthened after a small gap. The volumes were low. Major manufacturers continued to be buyers at these higher levels possibly due to low stocks. Anyhow the domestic market ruled firm at the weekend session even Rs 8 to Rs 10 above the global rates though import fears hovered around the main marketing centres during the past few sessions.

Spot prices were (Rs/kg): RSS-4: 135.50 (135); RSS-5: 132 (132); ungraded: 126.50 (126); ISNR 20: 131 (131) and latex 60 per cent: 83 (83).
