Kerala staff to join Nabard strike

Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 11

Employees of the Kerala regional office of the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) will join the national strike, to be held on August 20, according to a press release issued by the Nabard Employees’ Association, Thiruvananthapuram. The demands raised by the association include immediate steps by the Centre to contain rise in the prices of essential commodities, retention of Nabard as a public sector Apex Developmental Financial Institution a nd provision of necessary financial assistance to Nabard by the Centre and Reserve Bank to enable it to extend credit support to the agriculture and rural sectors at reasonable rates of interest, the release adds. –
