Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd has won the Engineering Export Promotion Council’s top export award for the 18th successive year. Conferred on BHEL in the category ‘Star Performer in 2006-07: Project Exports - Large Enterprise’, the award was presented by the Minister for External Affairs, Mr Pranab Mukherjee, a BHEL statement said. The award comes at a time when BHEL has been making efforts to become a major global player by enhancing its presence in intern ational markets. It has identified overseas business as a major thrust area as part of its ‘Strategic Plan 2012’. The company is targeting a six-fold increase in its physical exports by 2012, the statement said. —
