Approval for Rs 10,507-cr worth highway projects

New Delhi, Aug. 8 The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) can now initiate the process to invite bids for about Rs 10,500-crore worth projects with the Public Private Partnership Appraisal Committee (PPPAC) approving 10 projects.

The estimated project cost of the 10 approved projects is Rs10,507.22 crore, said an official release.

These projects will be taken up on a public-private partnership basis.

The projects are located in Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Bihar, Kerala, Goa, Andhra Pradesh and UP & Uttrakhand.

The projects are four-laning of: Pune-Sholapur section (Maharashtra) at an estimated cost of Rs 922.47 crore; Coimbatore-Mettupalayam section at Rs 499.82 crore; Khagaria-Bhaktiarpur section (Bihar) at Rs 1,703.82 crore; Kuttipuram-Edapally (Kerala) at Rs 1,157.92 crore; Patna-Buxar section (Bihar) at Rs 1,619.83 crore; Goa/Karnataka border-Panaji (Goa) at Rs 382.46 crore; MP/Maharashtra border-Nagpur section of NH7 including Kamptee-Kahnan and Nagpur bypass in Maharashtra at Rs 1,133.84 crore; Chennai Port gate No. 10 to Maduravoyal (NH4) in Tamil Nadu Rs 1,345.14 crore; Armur-Adloor Yellareddy section of NH7 in Andhra Pradesh at Rs 490.5 crore; Muzzafarnagar-Nepali farm section of NH 58 in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand from Nepali to ISBT Dehradun (UP and Uttarakhand) at Rs 1,251.42 crore.

Since its constitution in January 2006, PPPAC has granted approval to 65 projects, with an estimated project cost of Rs 53,284.95 crore.
