Development projects for Kerala

World Malayalee Council (WMC), a fraternity of Keralites around the globe, has chalked out several developmental plans in IT, biotechnology, nanotechnology and township development through out the State. Mr George Kulangara, Chairman, Kerala Province, WMC, said in a release that the Council is planning to construct two technoparks in Kottayam district with public participation and the investment estimated for the projects will be to the tune of Rs 2,000 crore. Preliminary works for the project, including purchase of land, had commenced, he said. The Council had also purchased 50 acres at Manjappra near the Cochin International Airport to develop a township and an IT park. The investment for the project is estimated at Rs 1,500 crore. There are also plans to construct resorts at major tourist centres at Kumarakom, Munnar, Cherai, Wagamon and Thattekad, he added. –
