Kochi set to host Rubber Summit

Kochi, Aug. 13 The country’s first Rubber Summit with its focus on making India a global rubber power will bring together rubber industry leaders and experts from across the world at Kochi.

The Summit & Dinner is organised by Rubber Asia, a rubber magazine in association with the Rubber Board, and All India Rubber Industries Association (AIRIA). The event will be held at Taj Residency on Saturday.

Over 300 delegates, domestic as well as international, will participate in the summit. Dr Hidde P Smit, Secretary-General, International Rubber Study Group (IRSG), will deliver the keynote address on oil price shock & rubber markets.

Mr Sang Mr Udomjarumani, CEO, International Rubber Consortium, Thailand, will deliver a special address on rising NR price and demand supply mismatch. Mr Sajen Peter, Chairman of the Rubber Board of India, will preside over the inaugural function.

Mr Sandana Dass, Managing Director and CEO of the Singapore-based R1 International will chair the panel discussion on ‘India: A potential global rubber power’.

Those who will speak on various aspects of the theme include, Mr M F Vohra, President, All India Rubber Industries Association, Dr A K Krishnakumar, former Indian Rubber Production Commissioner and presently COO of ILFS, Dr James Jacob, Director, Rubber Research Institute of India, Mr Pankaj Kapoor, Managing Director, Harrisons Malayalam Ltd, Rajiv Budhraj, Director General, Automotive Tyre Manufacturers Association and Dr S Sivakumar, Executive Director, Research & Development, Greenyield Bhd, Malaysia.

Mr Kurian Abraham, Editor and Managing Director of Rubber Asia, said that India has all the potential to become a global rubber power.
