Software Markets - Stock Exchanges V. Rishi Kumar Hyderabad, Aug. 14 Windows Live India teams are in parleys with the BSE and the NSE to offer real-time search of stock quotes just like they do in the US and other markets. General search and Windows Live-based search provides different results. The idea is to make search local and very precise. This is part of Microsoft’s efforts to offer search content that is relevant to local people, a Microsoft spokesperson demonstrating Windows Live features told Business Line. The idea behind tie-ups with the NSE and the BSE is to provide access to real-time information on stocks. Keying in a specific stock, say Amara Raja Batteries, one will be able to access stock info just like one would get when one visits these exchange sites. One will also get additional information such as analyst views on stocks which will help an information seeker make empowered decisions. WAP-based searchThrough a tie-up with Vodafone, Windows Live offers WAP-based search features. Search is becoming increasingly location-specific. For someone who wants more detailed information, including on local restaurants, efforts are on to make it location-based. Live Search Research teams at Microsoft India Development Centre in Hyderabad believe that the world is moving towards a services-driven approach. Therefore, new business models are set to evolve where online advertisements are poised to grow, creating new opportunities. A separate team is working on online ad research. SILVERLIGHTMicrosoft’s Silverlight is a cross browser and device-agnostic platform plug-in that helps access rich Internet applications on the Web. As part of research work, it has tied up with handset maker Nokia to offer superior download and browsing experience on mobile phones.
