New Delhi, Aug. 18 Karur Vysya Bank (KVB) must develop special products for bringing more women into the fold of the banking system, Ms Sheila Dixit, Delhi Chief Minister, said here today.

“By the time you celebrate 100 years of existence, you should have developed special plans for providing loans to women (on easier terms than men) so that they can become self-reliant,” Ms Dixit said at the 92nd birth anniversary celebrations of the bank here today. She also said that Delhi, as a city State, could do with more banks and assured the KVB top management that all support would be extended for it’s branch expansion efforts in the National Capital. Meanwhile, Mr P.T. Kuppuswamy, Managing Director & CEO, KVB, said that the bank was targeting a branch network of over 320 branches by the end of the current fiscal and a total business of Rs 28,000 crore. Currently, KVB has 296 branches in 13 States with total business of over Rs 23,000 crore. Mr Kuppusamy told Business Line that KVB plans to expand its presence in the Delhi zone from the current 13 branches to 30 branches in the next 2-3 years.
