Tourism States - Kerala Greenix ethnic village opens at Fort Kochi Our Bureau Kochi, Aug. 19 Greenix Village, a unique artistic complex where Kerala’s ethnic and cultural diversity has been recreated in its original splendour, was inaugurated by the State Fisheries and Registration Minister, Mr S. Sharma, at Fort Kochi. Speaking on the occasion, he said such ventures will go a long way in promoting Kerala’s unique art and culture beyond the borders of the State. The minister also released a showbook on Kerala’s art forms at the function. Mr Cherian Philip, Chairman of the Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC), in his address said that Greenix village is a typical and encouraging example of growing private participation in promoting Kerala’s culture and tourism. Greenix village is a project born out of a genuine passion to preserve and provide a regular platform to demonstrate Kerala’s rich cultural and ethnic diversity to the new generation and tourists from across the globe, Mr N.A. Muhamed Kutty, Managing Director of Greenix Ventures Pvt Ltd, said. The 45,000-sq ft facility, intended for tourists, students and researchers across the globe is dedicated to presenting various facets of Kerala’s culture and ethnic traditions. The complex has a multiplex of two theatres for dance performances and a cultural museum. The complex also houses a Kalaripayattu training centre, an art gallery restaurant, a yoga centre, a curio shop and seven rooms for home-stay for those who are interested in researching and learning Kerala’s art forms. A miniature version of a typical Kerala village is another attraction at Greenix Village. There are also conference halls and a business centre for corporate guests.
