Economy States - Kerala ‘Good progress in Kerala’s annual Plan implementation’ Our Bureau Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 19 The implementation of Kerala’s current annual Plan has so far been better than the achievement during the same period of the previous annual Plan, said the Chief Minister, Mr V.S. Achuthanandan. At a review meeting here on Tuesday of the Plan implementation till July 31 this year, the Chief Minister said the annual Plan outlay for 2007-08 was Rs 6,950 crore, which was later revised to Rs 6,693 crore. The total Plan outlay, including the Central assistance for Centrally-sponsored schemes, worked out to Rs 7,964 crore. The total expenditure at the end of the year from State’s share of the Plan was Rs 5,065 crore, which was 73 per cent of the Plan outlay. This was better than the achievement in 2006-07. State schemesThe outlay for State schemes in the current annual Plan is Rs 7,700 crore and till July 31, the expenditure was Rs 938 crore, representing 12 per cent of the outlay. During the same period in the previous year, the expenditure was only nine per cent of the Plan outlay. The allocation for various government departments in the current Plan is Rs 5,822 crore and till July 31, the expenditure was to the tune of Rs 810 crore. While this was 14 per cent of the Plan outlay, the achievement during the period last year was only 11 per cent, the Chief Minister pointed out. Similarly, out of the allocation of Rs 1,694 crore for local self-government institutions, the expenditure was to the tune of Rs 127 crore.
